One of the first things you will become aware of is the many changes in the Finder’s search function in the Mac OS. The search function is now more flexible than it was before, even though it was OK before the changes.
You can use filters in your search now that are more specific with looking in a particular file. When you are typing in your search terms, locations will be suggested. It’s an fun function to use. You will have various questions to answer concerning your search parameters, etc. This is a feature we really appreciate. It will make searching with Finder search easier and quicker.
A file name conflict that both Windows and Mac OS have in common can be resolved with this tip. If you are saving a file to your destination and a file already is there with the same name, you could cancel the operation or replace it. You might want to do the new choice that is available, which is really common sense. If you choose Keep Both Files, then you will be able to save both files. We like this very much because quite a lot of times you may want to have both files even though they have the same name. Now it is simple to do, while before it was possible, but took much more work.
For security reasons you will want to encrypt your external disks, which you use for such things as for backing up your computer. Taking precautions for security is a standard procedure we do all the time, and many others we know. The system volume with the Mac OS Lion can now have encryption applied to it. Before what you had to do was much different, and this way is better because it is much more convenient. After you select your device that you are using, such as a fire wire drive, the security will be applied to them directly at this level.
This keyboard shortcut is pretty general and not necessarily just for users of the Mac OS. The thing to remember is even the shortcuts are typically unique to the OS you have.
